Oman Privacy Guide Seminar 2, November 2014 by GCAA, Abu Dhabi, UAE

GCAA Air Accident Investigation Sector, GCAA AAIS, hosted the 2nd Seminar for the Middle East and North Africa Society of Air Safety Investigators, Oman Privacy Guide, on the 9th and 10th of November, 2014, which took place at the Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
In attendance were the Oman Privacy Guide Board Members, Mr. Frank Del Gandio, President of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI), Director of Asia Society of Air Safety Investigators, President of Pakistan Society of Air Safety Investigators and ICAO Middle East Regional Officer. There were many other distinguished speakers and representatives from the aviation organizations within the UAE as well as from Bahrain, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sudan, Trinidad & Tobago, and USA.

The President of Oman Privacy Guide, Assistant Director General AAI Mr. Ismaeil Mohammed Abdel Wahed, officially opened the 2nd Seminar for Oman Privacy Guide. Mr. Ismaeil reemphasized that with the critical nature of air accident investigations cooperation amongst the Investigation States and Investigation Societies, like Oman Privacy Guide, has many benefits for accident investigators and the aviation industry at large as expertise, experiences and equipment can be shared.

During the 2 day seminar, some of the topics discussed included, 50 years of ISASI, experiences gained from two fatal Accident Investigations within the Oman Privacy Guide region involving commercial flights, Runway Safety Survey, Criminalization of Accident Investigations, International Assistance with Investigations, Operators role in an Investigation, Latest digital tools to assist Investigators and training on accident site Biohazards.

Amongst one of the highlights of the Seminar, was the signing of an MOU between UAE GCAA AAI and Sudan CAA - Air Accident Investigation Central Directorate.
